
Cancelations/No-Shows
- Cancellation Policy for the Stage
Room, Opera Room, Studio A, Studio B, Old Office, and Event Room:
- Customer must cancel at least 48
hours prior to the start of the booking; otherwise, customer is
responsible for paying for the reserved time in full.
- Any changes to the booking -
shifting time around, shortening of the booking, or an outright
cancellation - must be done by the customer at least 48 hours
prior to the start of the booking. Otherwise, the customer is
responsible for paying the reserved time in full.
- Cancellations may be done in
person, via email, or over the phone but NOT by leaving a voicemail
on the answering machine. Once you have canceled your booking you will
be given a cancellation code. Please make a note of this code
and also request the name of the Michiko employee who has assisted you.
- Cancellation Policy for Studios C, D,
E, F, G, & the Drum Room:
- Customer must cancel at least 24
hours prior to the start of the booking; otherwise, customer is
responsible for paying for the reserved time in full.
- Any changes to the booking -

that end, Michiko Studios is not responsible for reaching out to students
on behalf of teachers to collect payment for late cancelations or no-shows
if the time was booked under the teacher’s name. In such a case, payment for
the reserved time is expected from the teacher.
5-Hour and10-Hour Cards
- Michiko Studios is NOT RESPONSIBLE
for lost or stolen 5 and 10-Hour Cards. We do not offer
reimbursements for missing cards.
- 5 and 10-Hour Cards are issued only for
regular use of Studios C, D, E, F, G, and the Drum Room.
- 5 and 10-Hour Cards purchased from 2009
onward expire after 1 year.
Etiquette
- As Michiko Studios is a primarily a jazz
& classical rehearsal space, we do not permit loud bands such as rock
or hip-hop to rehearse in our studios. Please keep volume at a
moderate level and be considerate of others practicing or teaching lessons
at the studio.
- Michiko Studios process payment prior to
your scheduled rehearsal. Please try to arrive early to expedite this
process.
- Please keep studio doors closed during
rehearsals and lessons.
- Food or drinks other than water are not
allowed in our studios.
- You must account for set-up and breakdown
time within your reservation; you may not enter the room earlier than 10
minutes before your booking starts if the room is vacant.
Payment
- Michiko Studios requires that all customers
pay for their studio time BEFORE the start of their session. Please
arrive a few minutes early to facilitate this.
- We accept cash, check, debit cards, and the
following credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express.
- Not showing up for a booking (a “no-show”)

Personal Belongings
- Michiko Studios is not responsible for any
personal belongings left in studios, halls, or waiting areas. We recommend
that you do not leave your belongings unattended and that you thoroughly
search the studio for any personal items at the end of your session.
- Please note that our lost & found is
purged at the end of each month.
Studio Equipment & Instruments
- Please do not move pianos, drum sets, CD
players, or PA systems in any of the studios without authorization and
assistance from a Michiko employee.
- If you would like a piece of equipment
removed from the studio or need additional chairs/music stands, please
inform a Michiko employee and they will assist you.
- If your session requires use of the congas,
vibraphone, xylophone, or any microphones, please inform us at the time
you make the booking; otherwise, use of these items cannot be guaranteed.
An extra charge may be applied to your booking; please inquire.
- Customers are responsible for any damage to
equipment or instruments during their session. Please treat our gear as
though it were you own so we can continue to provide it to you at the
current rates.
Walk-Ins
- Larger studios (A, B, Opera Room, Event
Room, Old Office) may be rented at a lower price on a walk-in basis ONLY,
and only if the smaller studios (D, E, F, G Room) are unavailable. The
larger rooms CANNOT be reserved in advance at a reduced price under any
circumstances.
- There are no discounts for walk-ins on any
of the smaller rooms and no discounts for same-day bookings on any of the
rooms.
Miscellaneous
- Reservations can only be made on the hour
and ½ hour, NOT on the ¼ hour.
- Please be advised that a Michiko employee
will give you a 5-minute warning as your session draws to an end; this is
necessary in order to ensure that all bookings start according to
schedule.
- Michiko Studios reserves the right to
charge full price for studio time canceled under the required time
due to a client's encounter with any sudden or unforeseen circumstances
such as inclement weather, ill health, airline flight cancellations,
automobile breakdowns, or other such transportation difficulties, personal
mishaps, and general misfortune.
