DESCRIPTION
This desirable horn features a warm, velvet sound with a big bottom end. A vintage 1957, she exhibits the medallion motif, associated with early VI's, engraved on the bell, and the ornate relief wraps around, extending to the bow. A smattering shock of bright blue still adorns her octave hallmark. Among her peccadilloes, the original lacquer has acquired a dark, smoky color around the bell area, with the lacquer turning an astonishing gold hue on the bow. Some noticeable wear in the original lacquer occurs, particularly on the back of the body, underside of the bow, and along the neck. But the wear has done nothing more than to free her incredible voice. A Steve Wilson serial number range, this wonderfully crafted instrument plays assertively, and with presence and dimension in the sound.
