This is one of the biggest-blowing pieces in the shop! This is a 60’s Florida no-USA Super Tone Master 9. Due to some damage it sustained in the tip, it was salvaged and refaced by Erik Grieffenhagen; the intent was to keep everything as original as possible, so it is still at a 9 tip opening (you can see the milling from Eric’s work on the table some finishing work at the top of the baffle). The low register is hearty and wily; the middle register is round and sultry, with a velvety core; the high register is extremely wide, flexible and expressive. This piece has a thin tip rail for response, a slight roll-over baffle, and a huge chamber; the result is a flexible, complex mouthpiece with the beautiful core and round sound that Otto Link is famous for. If you haven’t been able to find something that sounds wide enough, this could be what you’ve been looking for!
