Selmer Mark VI Soprano Saxophone #187,XXX "Paul Winter" Gold-Plated

Product Description

This 1971 Selmer was used by sopranist Paul Winter to record his critically acclaimed 1972 album "Icarus", produced by legendary Beatles producer George Martin who called this record "the finest album I have ever made." According to critic Karen Karleski, Icarus "captures Paul Winter and his ensemble at the height of their improvisational powers."

Now a part of the Roberto's Winds Mark VI Room, this gorgeous soprano has a fine gold finish, with Mr. Winters' cork extensions on the palm keys and a custom thumbrest. Some wear on the gold plated bell shows the silver plating and some of the brass beneath. This is present because of Paul's repeated use of a soprano microphone pack that wrapped around the bell. The instrument possesses a rich and dark tone, with a strong center.
