Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone #138,XXX

Product Description

This 1966 Mark VI tenor is a real treat to play! Freshly overhauled by Roberto with the original plastic resonators, this is a very player-friendly horn from bottom to top. The timbre in the lower register is robust and fat. The middle register is breathy and husky, but still has that strong core that is the signature of the Mark VI. The high register and altissimo are pretty, but come out strong and present as well. The high F# key makes the altissimo range particularly easy to access.

The neck on this American-assembled Mark VI is in great shape, with no pull-down whatsoever. Where it has a serial number printed on earlier vintages, this horn’s neck has an “L” printed, indicating that it has a particularly long neck; this of course gives the player more wiggle-room to adjust his mouthpiece for intonation. The area surrounding the “S” has been painted black. There is also a small patch of the neck that was relacquered; the rest of the horn has maintained little to no loss of its original lacquer, however, and has about 98% remaining. It appears that this Mark VI has been unplayed for almost its entire life. Be the one to break it in!
