Selmer Mark VI Tenor Saxophone #86,XXX

Product Description

This 1960 Mark VI tenor really plays! It has a beautiful sound: dark and warm, with that characteristic Mark VI core. The intonation is even from register to register, and because of Roberto’s stellar overhaul, the key-work feels fast and free under your fingers. The lower register is juicy and husky, reminiscent of Joe Henderson or Clifford Jordan. The altissimo range sounds pure and plays in tune with little effort.

This is a horn that got played, a lot, and for good reason. The lacquer is not original on the 86,4XX, and, in fact, there is hardly any of the re-lacquer on this horn. Because of this, the middle seam up the bell is the signature on this tenor, giving it a raw look. The neck is in good condition, with very little pull-down, and the coloring around the “S” has faded to black. This is an American assembled Mark VI. A recently overhauled Mark VI in this serial number range at this price is a perfect pick for any player!
