This is a very rare first generation vintage Selmer Soloist ''long shank''! This piece is an original C* (.072) with a medium-short facing curve length.
Unlike the later models this one has the same chamber size and interior of the Short Shanks from the 1950s. Its sound is therefore powerful, dark, rich, fat, spread but with a solid center ( focus).
The long shanks are so called because Selmer wanted to solve the issue of the short shanks being sharp to the point they were almost falling off from the neck. This vintage piece offers basically the same tonal characteristic of the highly sought after Vintage Selmer Short Shanks but without having to worry about its placement on the neck cork for optimal tuning.
We uploaded a video on YouTube to highlight the key differences between the Long Shank and the Short Shank the we both have currently for sale
